Who is College-Level Academic Skills Test ?

The CLAST, also known as the College-Level Academic Skills Test, was a test formerly administered by the Florida Department of Education. However, it was discontinued in 2009 and replaced with the General Knowledge Test (GKT) as part of the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE).

Hence, if you're seeking teacher certification in Florida, you would need to take the FTCE GKT. Here's a general guide on how you can take the exam:

Step 1: Eligibility and Application
To be eligible, you must have a Bachelor's degree or be in your last semester of college. For application, go to the FTCE/FELE candidate website (http://www.fl.nesinc.com) and create an account. After logging in, select the 'Register' button to apply for the exam.

Step 2: Scheduling the Exam
Once your application has been approved, you can schedule your exam. Exams are offered year-round, Monday through Saturday. You can choose the date and location that works best for you. Exams are administered at Pearson VUE test centres across Florida and nationwide.

Step 3: Taking the Exam
On the day of your exam, arrive at the test centre early with a valid photo ID. The test will be computer-based and the time allotted will depend on the specific test you're taking.

Remember to regularly check the official FTCE/FELE website for updates and to prepare for your exam.

Please note that this information may change, so always refer to the official website for the most accurate and current information.
