y = -2x + 7

we can write 4x + 2y = 7 as
 
2y = -4x + 7
 
y = -2x + 7/2
thus, slope of line 4x + 2y = 7 will be -2.
 
the equation of line parallel to 4x + 2y = 7 will be
 
y = -2x + b ( as slopes of parallel lines are equal)-------(i)
 
we can find the value of b by substituting x = 1, y = 5 into (i).
 
5 = -2 + b
